Fancy Tank

Hello everyone!

I am super excited to share this project with you. Today I am sharing my make for a fun blog tour! I got to be part of a blog tour where we all use one pattern and hack it to create our own look. The pattern used is the free Halla Agnes. Make sure to read to the end of this post for a special coupon code and chance to win a gift card!

I hacked the Halla Agnes to have a bow back. I’ve been wanting a top like this for awhile, and this blog tour was the perfect opportunity to make one!

For my hack, I lowered the back neckline around 5-6 inches. To find how low I wanted it, I placed my back pattern piece on me and marked where I wanted the neck to hit. The bow piece was made with two 8.5 inch wide and 7 inch tall pieces of fabric. I sewed them right sides together on the longer ends, then gathered the sides some. The middle piece that made it a bow was sewn with a 3 inch tall piece of fabric. I didn’t measure the width. I also calculated a new neckband length since I lowered the back. When attaching my neckband, I sandwiched the bow in the position I wanted it between the neckband and shirt piece. That’s it!

Despite looking complicated, this is a fairly simple hack. I love the result, and can’t wait to make more of these!

The swingy-ness of the Halla Agnes is one part I love about this pattern. The fitted bust and flared hips are so swishy and fun!

Now for the part you’ve all been waiting for… a giveaway AND coupon code! The Fabric Snob is offering a 10% discount to their beautiful fabrics, yay! Use code “BuckyBabe10” to save 10% on purchases.

  1. Funny thing: I follow the Dreamstress (Scroop Patterns) and she does a “Rate the Dress” item and this week’s is one that has a fabulous back view with bows…1890’s style so a LOT more covered up…but bows on the back are on my mind

  2. This is great I was considering buying a bow back kids pattern so I could figure out how to make it for an adult. Good job!
